Project 2020-2021

100% of every donation we receive will go towards our global project. CACTES Association, in partnership with Seeds of Hope Uganda, is currently focused on assessing the COVID-19 pandemic situation in rural communities in Uganda. A study has been conducted to evaluate the financial and psychological effects of lockdown measures, the communities’ knowledge of COVID-19, including viral symptoms, transmission and protection mechanisms, and local perspectives on the pandemic. Following data analysis, CACTES Association will create educational dissemination materials and more importantly, construct policy briefs to inform key stakeholders of potential policy changes to address the social, economic and psychological needs of the community. By funding our research, you can help the rural communities of Uganda build resilience against the COVID-19 pandemic. Please also stay updated by subscribing to our newsletters!

Additional Information

Ethical approval for this survey was provided by the District Internal Security Officer of Masaka and the Community Development Officer of the Nyendo-Ssenyange division on July 6, 2020. Surveys were conducted in accordance with the local and federal physical and social distancing regulations at the time. Such regulations included, but were not limited to, a physical distance of 2 meters between the interviewer and the interviewee, and the use of face masks by all participants.

Districts surveyed include Masaka and Kalungu in western Uganda. A total of 140 households, which represents approximately 5% of households from each village were randomly selected. Random selection of households was completed using SPSS version 26 based on the lists of households that Seeds of Hope obtained from local village offices.

Your donation will go towards COVID-19 educational materials creation and dissemination and policy brief research. Thank you for your support!
